This Santa Cruz 00 Custom is built with mastergrade Cocobolo combined with a mastergrade Moon Spruce top, a Honduras Mahogany neck and an Ebony fingerboard. Awesome and bold tone machine.
This pretty Santa Cruz OO Custom Cocobolo is an ergonomic delight. She delivers ease of playability and surprising volume for its size. Certainly not just a smaller version of the OOO, the OO is a specialized tool onto itself. The 12-fret body and 24-3/4 inch string length tunes to pitch at lower string tension, making the action supple while requiring less of a stretch between frets. The size and voicing of the OO give it an exceptionally balanced EQ with a wonderful complex tone and remarkable projection. This serious instrument is surprisingly loud. The OO’s portability makes it an excellent companion for composing and recording, and its sophisticated voice encourages players to explore undiscovered fretboard possibilities. Holding this guitar just feels right!
Cocobolo is a dense, stiff tropical hardwood with a fairly bright tone. Sonically, it’s similar to Koa, but resonates a little deeper on the low end, although it doesn’t have quite the full low end of rosewood. Fast and responsive, with moderate note decay, it’s articulate with lots of note distinction. Moon Spruce is a tonewood from trees that are cut in wintertime at a certain cycle of the Moon. Sap streams are best halted at that point. Moon Spruce exhibits outstanding and unique characteristics. This rare tonewood is regarded by many as the ultimate Spruce choice. This top offers more dynamic range, sustain and note separation than any other top wood.
