• 1991 Gibson Byrdland Jim Triggs

    Category: Product Condition: Pre-Owned

    Our price:

Very rare and all original 1991 Gibson Byrdland fully hand build by the extremely talented master luthier Jim Triggs.  Jim was also one of the founders of the Gibson Custom Shop.

This Gibson Byrdland is pretty jazzer and a magnificent instrument for live performances and studio recording. Very nice and fat tones, check out the soundcloud demo. She is also in high excellent condition! Definately a rare find!  The Byrdland is know for its short scale and and 22 frets to the body compared to most of the other big body’s that do with 20 frets. With its overall depth of 2¼-in – 57,3 mm, she is thinner than the L-5’s (3⅜” – 85.7 mm). Very comfortable to hold in any position.

In 1954 Gibson’s president Ted McCarty sought opinions and ideas about new products. The suggestions from Tom Byrd and Hank Garland led to the development of the Byrdland. The Byrdland is essentially a custom built, thinner, L-5CES (Cutaway-Electric-Spanish) with a shorter scale neck. The short scale neck (23½”, 597mm) facilitates intricate single-note patterns and unusual stretched chord voicings.

As said, this guitar can do a lot more than just Rock & Roll. From the Jazzy tones of Greg Koch to the hard rock licks from Ted Nugent. This is a winner in excellent condition.
