The Gibson SJ-200 is the world’s most famous acoustic guitar and earned its designation as the “King of the Flat-Tops.” Since its release in 1937, it’s wide use by artists worldwide, making the Super Jumbo one of the most widely played acoustic guitars of our time. The most striking features of the SJ-200 include the carved four bar Moustache bridge, an engraved tortoise pickguard, mother-of-pearl crown fretboard and headstock inlay, and exquisite flamed maple back and sides. The SJ-200 is an American original with its shape and elegant appearance.
This 1999 model is a fine example of one of the most iconic acoustic guitars in the world. The relatively high action at 2.7 mm can be easily reduced by taking material out of the saddle, however this setup provides tremendous volume when picking hard. The big, resonant low end emitting from the body is a joy for vocal accompaniment, with scooped mids and crystalline highs providing a balanced frequency response which many singers love.
