This is the D12-35 50th Anniversary Limited Edition. This celebratory model is a 12-string, solid headstock Dreadnought limited to a quantity of 183, the quantity of the first 1965 production run. This modern interpretation of the original model includes a European Spruce top with Martin’s Vintage Tone System (VTS) and 3-piece East Indian rosewood back and sides. By far the best sounding 12-string I have ever heard.
The D12-35 50th Anniversary Limited Edition is build with the new Martin Vintage Tone System (VTS). VTS uses a unique recipe that is based on the historic torrefaction system. The VTS acts like a time machine in which certain time periods and ages the top and braces to that era. This focused method allows Martin to reproduce the special tones previously reserved for vintage instruments.
This is everything one could wish for in a Rosewood 12-string: meaty and grand . The massive sound chamber of a 12-fret dreadnought amplifies the rich harmonic complexity, with the lush rumble of Indian Rosewood topped by the bright peaks that European Spruce projects above a textured undertone. The voice is saturated by a warm and creamy glow that radiates softly. The open, responsive dynamics of the special VTS treatment provide so much definition to the notes popping off the strings, and such incredible detail down inside the busy voice, that she dares you try interesting chord voicings, just to hear them hover there in the room. The original retail price was 5.995 Euro. There are a few very minor dings on the top so I rate her condition as high excellent.
