    Category: Product Condition: Pre-Owned

    Our price:

Vintage Guild D-25 for the singer/songwriters! Ryan Adams most favorite guitar! And also Richie Havens, Nick Drake, John Denver. OK, this is not a highend guitar, but…this is one excellent sounding guitar. A player doing all the picking and strumming you need. Really, perfect sounding and easy playing guitar!

Thie Guild D-25 Dreadnought was introduced in 1968 as the Bluegrass D-25. The model remained a budget-friendly mainstay of the Guild acoustic lineup for decades, with major changes coming in 1975 when a Spruce top (dyed to look like Mahogany was introduced). The D25 came with the arched back design. The carved arch like back of the old Guilds is partially a nod/holdover from the old New York Epiphone organization which formed the core of the Guild organization as Epiphone was going under and being bought out by Gibson. Epiphone in its heyday made some of the finest archtop jazz guitars ever produced.

This vintage Guild D-25 has – like many of the vintage Guilds – that carved style back as well as some of the most comfortable feeling necks ever used on a flattop. Briefly as for sound properties the stiffer you make the back the better the projection. A very flat loose back can create a negative phase coupling with the top and hurt projection and volume. The backs and sides should be thought of as adding color to the primary tone generator (the top). Much of the piano like brightness and ambiance of modern high-end guitars is the result of the trend towards stiffer backs. Her condition is EXCELLENT. No cracks, no repairs.
