This Martin D-28 Authentic 1937 Aged is build with Premium Madagascar Rosewood and aged Adirondack Red Spruce. Delicately hand distressed in all the right places. Feels and sounds like a true vintage player’s guitar with years of wear, right out of the case.
When replicating a 1937 Martin D-28, where does one begin with a rare and highly coveted historical relic like this one? When it came time to make an exacting reproduction of the king of guitars, the fine folks at C.F. Martin happened to have one residing in their own museum, which was made in 1937. And it provided a wealth of information so that it could be reborn as the D-28 Authentic 1937. But the good folks didn’t stop there! The Aged version of the D-28 Authentic 1937 Aged includes all the goodness that comes with Martin’s Authentic Series instruments, like hide glue construction and hand-scalloped X bracing. Plus, the Vintage Tone System (VTS) that ages the wood to replicate the sound of a vintage Martin. The ultra-thin aged finish is also important for the tone and looks of this beauty. Annually 50 of these amazing guitars are methodically, painstakingly distressed, inside and out, in all the right places. More information on this process can be found HERE
The result is a tactile, visual, and auditory experience that will transport you all the way back to the 1930s. This is a unique guitar in every way! From a player’s point of view, this is the ultimate Dreadnought! Very well-balanced, deep bass tones combined with crispy and solid mids. And then the high notes. Rarely have I heard these fat and sweet tones coming from the upper regions. The stunning resonance of this beauty is also the result of the choice of lightweight tonewoods. Combined with the easy to play neck, this is a tone machine extraordinaire!
