This 0012-28 Modern Deluxe was inspired by the 12-fret herringbone 00-28 that once was the most popular flattop acoustic guitar, from the time of the Civil War and the advent of Americana music to the birth of modern Country Music and Jazz during the 1920s. This guitar was reintroduced in 2009 as the 00-28VS, available until 2018. And now she’s back Reborn and enhanced with ultra-modern engineering that raises tone and playability to a whole new level. The exquisite tonal balance from this 12-fret 00’s East Indian sound chamber is full, rich, and round, made all the more powerful and beautiful by the VTS Sitka spruce top and 1/4″ Golden Era scalloped braces made with VTS Adirondack spruce, set in place by natural protein glue.
Compared to the fine Martin Standard Series, the Modern Deluxe Series features a torrefied Sitka Spruce top with scalloped, 1/4″ torrefied Adirondack Spruce bracing attached with natural protein glue, carbon fiber/torrefied Adirondack spruce bridge plate; short-scale neck with Vintage Deluxe profile, two-way adjustable titanium support rod, fretboard with High Performance Taper, Diamonds and Squares long pattern fretboard inlay, abalone position markers, EVO Gold frets, Liquidmetal® bridge pins, European flamed Maple binding and an Abalone script logo in the headstock.
