• Guild F-40 Valencia 1962

    Category: Product Condition: Pre-Owned

    Our price:

Guild started production of flattop guitars in 1954, and by the 1960s, Guild had mostly left its archtop origins behind. Of its early F-body guitars, the Bluegrass F-40 was introduced that first year it is particularly collectible.

The Bluegrass had a celluloid-tortoiseshell pickguard, an arched maple back, and pearloid inlays on the fingerboard, beginning at the third fret. This well preserved guitar had a california style neck reset. A Cal reset means separating the neck block from the back, sliding the bottom of the block towards the interior of the guitar, and re-gluing the joint. There is binding work and heel work required if the heel extends down past the back. The reset was done very proffessionaly and brought the guitar back to life. Nice feel and very warm sound!
