Martin 000-28EC Eric Clapton Signature is one of the bestselling guitars in the Martin range, and it’s easy to see why.
The Martin 000-28EC Eric Clapton is based on ‘slowhand’s pre-war Martin that the man used for the now legendary MTV Unplugged performance. She is equally at home fingerpicking or strumming big, brash chords. The combination of the Indian Rosewood with Sitka Spruce offers a rich tonal variation and lovely organic feel, it’s the perfect partner for players who need a guitar that can compete right across the board.
Her popularity stems from the better construction & design features that Martin began to employ in the 1930s, including scalloped, forward shifted bracing, compound dovetail neck joints and a slightly larger necks. The thicker and wider neck provided more structural stability while also increasing the guitar’s sustain and brightness. The neck may be the biggest difference between a Martin 000 and a Martin OM. Visually, this model has simple but attractive aesthetic details such as the herringbone inlay. In addition, the beautiful sunburst Sitka spruce top adds a subtle flair to the piece. While this guitar is versatile enough to played for just about any acoustic style except bluegrass, it’s especially responsive for finger style musicians and acoustic blues.
