Very special Lowden S35 CO/SRW build with AAAA Cocobolo for back and sides and paired with a Sinker Redwood soundboard. She shows how much love and care goes into every Lowden.
This Lowden S35 CO/SRW guitar is another perfect example of how much love and care goes into every Lowden. The Sinker Redwood top is absolutely fantastic, and the Cocobolo quality is fabulous. Straight-grained with no knots at all. The Lowden S35 is the ultimate small-bodied guitar, bringing out the mid-range punch as well as a great response and feel. Despite the compact body size there is no sacrifice in tone, clarity or projection. And that sustain! Incredible!!.
Redwood is a superb tonewood. It projects thoroughly and offers a bright tone with rich overtones in the mid/upper-midrange and a resonant bass response. Sinker Redwood is sonically more dynamic, sensitive and expressive than its non-Sinker equivalent. Notes bloom faster, harmonics are more pronounced, and it often has a brighter, chimier high-end. Cocobolo, or Dalbergia Retusa, has been used in guitar building since the late 60-ties and there is a good reason for that. Cocobolo is related to the widely used Indian Rosewood and offers many of the same qualities, such as beautiful, clear highs and deep lows and combines that with the delicious, natural reverb. Cocobolo does all of the above and adds pronunciation and power. Listen to a sound sample of this beauty here:
