This Lowden GL-10 is Lowden’s single cut electric guitar, pairing instantly recognizable Lowden characteristics and carefully crafted contours with unique design features. Finely tuned for that signature tone and sustain.
The Lowden GL-10 embodies classic Lowden character, drawing from over 40 years of guitar making heritage to invite the player to explore new tonal possibilities that await. The GL-10 body outline is not dissimilar to Lowden’s S-Series acoustic models, but the depth is minimal, even by solid body standards. This ‘thinline’ appearance is emphasized by a slight tummy tuck and a carved taper at the heel that reduces depth by about a third to ease access beyond the cutaway. Factor in the arched top and the chamfered cutaway, and the effect is sculptural, comfortable and ergonomic. Sustain is awesome, and the tone is outright balanced and distinctive. The Lowden GL-10 beats the competition in terms of quality, sustain and price point. This is by far the best electric guitar I held and played for many years.
This #73 top is figured Tasmanian Blackwood, which offers striking visuals and adding a warm and powerful mid-range to the tone. The typical Lowden neck plays like a ‘fretless wonder’, smooth feel in the hand due to the hand rubbed oil finish and excellent balance either with a strap or when sitting down. The Imperial® Humbuckers are derived from the original 1950s P.A.F. pickup, while improving on their frequency balance and giving a slight boost to the bridge pickup’s output. Very, very good solid body electric guitar, very light fret wear on the lower frets, no dings, no scratches and thus in near mint condition.
