Ultra-rare Guild GSR F30CE build at the famous Guild New Hartford (USA) workshop as a showcase model for European dealers. This beautiful Orchestra sized Guild is a tonemachine, beautifully crafted and rich sounding in all registers.
The Guild GSR F-30CE is tastefully decorated and the use of exotic Cocobolo creates an aura of class and style. Build quality is superb: the scalloped Adirondack Red Spruce bracing is smoothly sanded and imperceptibly glued in place, while the gloss finish is impeccable.
This Guild GSR F-30CE is a fantastic fingerstyle guitar. Offering an airy, smooth timbre, she purrs with rich, complex overtones and sustain to boot. The lower registers possess strength and presence without a hint of boom, and the mid and top end boast warmth while retaining clarity and sharpness.
Plugged in, the D-TAR (Duncan-Turner Acoustic Research) Multi-Source pickup system performs admirably and offers a very credible reproduction of the GSR F-30CE’s acoustic tone. The mic blend control has more influence on the output, and this provides greater versatility in the amplified tone. The depth and character of the originating acoustic tone results in keeping the amplified version from sounding thin and nasal. Overall, the Guild GSR F-30CE’s sonic performance is impressive, whatever the setting. This guitar was played but her former owner treated her very well. Thus, her condition is very good to excellent. Only very minor dings and scratches and some cracks in the Nitro Cellulose lacquers. Nothing serious. Our luthier did a full fret job and adjusted nut and bridge to attain a pleasant low action.
