This is a stunning SJ Dana Bourgeois ‘Signature model’ in high grade Madagascar Rosewood and Aged Tone Adirondack Spruce from the Bourgeois Guitars work shop.
She is in mint condition. No issues whatsoever! Dana calls this model the “Signature” for a reason; it highlights many individual design elements that are unique to his work and his work only. The DB Signature herringbone is a beautiful purfling, unique to Bourgeois featuring 3 alternating woods from dark to light, creating a naturally alluring pattern that compliments the curly koa binding perfectly. The DB backstrip is a similarly unique and elegant pattern.
The woods combination was originally conceived to highlight Madagascar Rosewood back & sides, which Dana was an early proponent of as a worthy Brazilian Rosewood substitute. ‘Madagascar Rosewood will probably get you closest to the sound of Brazilian, and at a much lower price. Madagascar Rosewood has much of the same rich overtone range as Brazilian, as well as a slightly “reverby” quality.’ This guitar features an Adirondack Red Spruce top and the traditional squares & diamonds inlays, which are carved from bone.
