This fine Martin D-14 Custom is built with premium quarter sawn Guatemalan Rosewood and a magnificent mastergrade Sitka Spruce top. If you listen with your ears and close your eyes, Guatemalan Rosewood is an excellent substitute for Brazilian rosewood. From the amazing Martin wood stock, we selected a very hard to find straight-grained and bookmatched set with a lovely warm and lush brown color. Combined with this set of perfectly straight-grained and beautiful silky premium Sitka Spruce top this babe make a tremendously powerful and dynamic guitar.
Sitka Spruce is the classic tonewood that differs from Alpine or Adirondack in tone and use. Though it’s hard to describe differences in species of Spruce I would say that Sitka is softer/warmer sounding. It responds well to a light touch and give that classic tone we all know. This set is a premium selection of quarter sawn, straight, and even grained wood in that classic yellowish color.
For this one, the Custom Shop luthiers went the extra mile and did the rosette inlay done with Abalone diamonds, a very pretty torch inlay in the headstock and totally in style topped up with torch inspired fretboard inlays.
