The MINT all-Mahogany Martin 00-DB Jeff Tweedy edition offers some very interesting specs. The DB designates the extra body depth of 4/5″ / 2cm and 14-frets to the body. More volume, deeper basses: a true modern retro!
This Martin oo-DB Jeff Tweedy guitar has the cool, vintage look of a sunburst on a Mahogany-topped guitar. Mahogany guitars have a long history in the flattop world. First introduced as inexpensive student guitars in the same shapes as their spruce-topped sisters, it wasn’t long before folks began to enjoy the signature tone that a Mahogany topped guitar brings. This is one of Martins favorite Mahogany topped guitar. The DB model really brings a response not often found in these dark-topped beauties. Combined with nice bass tones, volume and lots of very direct, sugar-sweet mid and high tones one gets the very best of what vintage Mahogany tops are known for. This is definitely a competitot no lesser cousin to a spruce-topped guitar; All Mahogany guitars stand proudly on their own!
Tweedy himself took this signature model seriously. In the below video he even gives some credit to Martin guitar historian John Woodland – the genius behind the Mastery Bridge for Jazzmasters and an occasional FJ contributor – for some of the instrument’s specs. This all Mahogany OO-model is Martin’s first Custom Artist model that is (FSC®) Certified, an important distinction for both Tweedy and Martin. The FSC® label on this guitar means that the wood used comes from forests that have met rigorous standards for protecting forestlands, communities and wildlife. This used Martin is in MINT condition with some very minor scratching on the pickguard. This guitar plays phenomenally and sounds great!
