• Guild GF60 Engelmann Spruce – East Indian Rosewood

    Category: Product Condition: Pre-Owned

    Our price:

Vintage 1987 Guild GF60 in excellent condition! This was Eric Clapton’s favorite back in the days. I can imagine that because this guitar is so sweet. It must be the Engelman Spruce top that rings like a bell. Really beautiful!

This Guild GF60 is a rare beast indeed. With an interesting story: George Gruhn and Kim Walker were asked to design a special guitar line. The Guild GF-60 was prototyped and designed at the Gruhn Guitarshop in Nashville, somewhere around 1984. They were built at the Guild Guitar plant between 1985 and 1988. George Gruhn gave Kim some specs he wanted in that line of guitars. Kim was at that time shopforeman/restorer deluxe at Gruhn Guitars. The Guild Traditional GF-series are high end guitars. Only solid tonewoods were used. This GF60 came with an Englemann Spruce top and stunning East Indian Rosewood back and sides, scalloped braces and a sexy snakehead-ish peghead with Gold Grover ‘waffleback’ tuners.

The GF-60 has a very comfortable SJ body shape with the most brilliant, fast, slim neck for effortless playing. Even better is the sound. Full, rich, balanced and can cope with any style of music. Kim Walker raised the bar on Guild GF series guitars! George Gruhn’s name was usually printed as designer on the inside label.
