The Bourgeois Custom OM is simply stunning, vibrant and powerful. Dana’s OM models (14-Fret, 25.5” scale) can be seen as a Vintage OM as a smaller version of our Dreadnought. Because of its characteristic superb balance, clarity of voice, and sustaining top register, the OM is often thought of as the quintessential fingerstyle guitar. It’s not surprising, though, that more than a few players appreciate these same characteristics not only for flatpicking but also for a variety of other applications. Bourgeois scallops both sides of the X brace on their OM models. This provides the ‘looseness’ required in a smaller guitar to produce a clear, strong bass response, power and projection that belies its size.
To even further enhance tone and sustain, Dana added a fossilized Mammoth Ivory bridge that is just jaw dropping! Dana about Fossilized Mammoth Ivory:’This is Ivory from the ancient wooly mammoth that roamed the earth as an ancient elephant like creature in ages past. While it has been labeled as ‘fossil ivory’, this is a misnomer as the material has not been turned to stone but rather has become highly mineralized from being trapped amidst ice and frozen tundra for tens of thousands of years’. Ivory adds sustain and overtones. She’s a real stunner! And what a tone! Over 20 years of aging is really noticeable, open tone, dynamic and super fine overtones.
