This wonderful instrument is a 2005 Goodall Concert Jumbo build with Engelman Spruce and spectacular Curly Walnut. She’s a wonderful versatile instrument great for fingerstyle guitar but can handle strumming and flat picking too.
A spectacular built from James Goodall, a Concert Jumbo body with Walnut back and sides & Englemann Spruce top. Fully bound in Maple, the lower bout measures 15-7/8″ in diameter, with an upper bout of 11-5/8″; the top is finely X braced, and has an ebony bridge w/ maple pins; the curly walnut is jaw dropping, with immense symmetry and flame. Light surface impressions and some cosmetic wear present, but in fine structural condition. Clear scratch plate installed. The mahogany neck has a 25.5″ scale length, 1-3/4″ nut width, with ebony fingerboard; snowflake pearl inlay pattern, and “flying G” headstock emblem in pearl.
James developed his own take on the concert jumbo model back in the early 90ies Measuring 157⁄8 inches across the lower bout, the ConcertJumbo features the curvaceous jumbo shape in a
more comfortable size. Her voice blooms with harmonic richness, sustain, and a “piano-like” quality. Walnut provides just enough dryness to keep those overtones from becoming overpowering, giving the guitar clarity inside the lushness. The WJC body gives it excellent projection (approaching a dreadnought in volume), but with more balance and evenness across the strings. It’s equally at home with fingerstyle, open tunings, and lush strumming. This Concert Jumbo offers a lush, resonant, and refined tone, with a blend of warmth and clarity. Think of it as rosewood’s + Mahagany dryness, wrapped in Goodall’s overtone-richt, modern voice. Since the CJ model retains the large acoustic soundboard area of the Standard or Dreadnought, while increasing comfort and curvy visual appeal, this model has become a favored size for many Goodall Guitar owners. She is in excellent condition. No dings, scratches or whatsoever. Just some lightly visible play marks on the clear pickguard. A beauty in every sense of the word!
