Stunning DeSmet 17″Archtop hand build by Dutch Master Luthier Peter De Smet. The classic Archtop is a true masterpiece in the style of Benedetto, Campellone and Elferink.

This DeSmet 17″archtop is entirely hand build in Peter’s workshop in the deep south-west of the Netherlands. Peter has been building acoustic guitars, archtops and mandolins for more than 25 years for top players, professionals, amateurs, and collectors all over the world. Each instrument, whether it is the old D’Angelico style, contemporary design, or innovative modern design, is hand-crafted personally by Peter. Sculpted, shaved, carved, tuned, and polished by hand to make an inspiring instrument. Tonewoods are carefully selected from trusted vendors, and only the finest woods are used.

As to the tone of this DeSmet 17″archtop one can expect a throaty midrange sound that really cuts thought the mix. The beautifully tiger striped Maple is a stiff and stable tonewood. In addition to its good looks, this wood has a strong low-end response and plenty of projection and clarity in the top end. Flamed Maple is harder than Quilted Maple, which results in a clear and less complex sound. The stiffness of Maple makes it an ideal choice for guitar necks as well, as it is very stable and will resist warping. Maple will also often produce richer overtones than mahogany. She is in excellent condition.
