This Martin 000-28 Modern Deluxe is phenomenal! The Tone is dominated by solid individual colorful notes with great sustain. When played heavy she barks and bites with a woody and bluesy tone. She is definitely more open and airy than any rosewood Martin from the Standard Series. She has a balanced voice that is both punchy and focused, like one will expect from a short-scale 000, compared to a long-scale OM or the larger long-scale dreadnought models. But it also has the bell-like chimes, fundamental sustain, and the uniquely dry, open undertone.
Compared the fine standard 000-28 the Martin 000-28 Modern Deluxe version features a torrified Sitka Spruce top with scalloped, 1/4″ torrified Adirondack Spruce bracing attached with natural protein glue, carbon fiber/torrified Adirondack spruce bridge plate; short-scale neck with Vintage Deluxe profile, two-way adjustable titanium support rod, fretboard with High Performance Taper, Diamonds and Squares long pattern fretboard inlay, abalone position markers, EVO Gold frets, Liquidmetal® bridge pins, European flamed Maple binding and an Abalone script logo in the headstock. At only 1.725 kg / 3.8 lbs she is also a lightweight adding to the resonance of this beauty. Brilliant guitar!!
