Rozawood Woodstock Cuban Mahogany - Alpine Spruce (SOLD)

This sweet piece of art is made from a burl of Cuban Mahogany. She's lets you feel her resonance and call you to pick her up and make music. Master luthier Roman Zajicek did a great job on the sunburst, really good! Appointments are refined including the artistic sound hole and the purflings. The body shape is perfect. You will never get tired of playing this baby.

A Burl is a very peculiar and highly figured wood, prized for its beauty by many; its rarity also adds to the expense of this one. The WOODSTOCK design includes double carbon tube adjustable truss rod, special selected Alpine Spruce top and top braces and delicious wooden binding. This sound can be described as 'wooden' – like that sound one can find on 60's instruments.

The body shape is a bit between 00 and 000. The body slightly longer (49.8 cm but has the same width at lower bout (38 cm). So it is less tightened in the centre but has the narrower upper bout to accommodate the fingerpicker.

Roman, engineer of profession, loves music above all. His quest for beauty of acoustic tone led him to building instruments himself. Roman built his first instruments in 1979. His reputation of a man with deep sensitivity for wood and tone began to spread among high-end instrument lovers with every guitar he created. Roman is part of the impressive history of Bohemian instrument making, which is considered to be the oldest in the world. A nice example is C.F. Martin who originates from the same region as Roman. This region is still the cradle of many high-end instrument makers, mostly working in small shops. Roman's knowledge of traditional violin construction combined with his technical insight and experience as guitar maker and musician made him one of the best luthiers in the world. His unique construction designs resulted over the years in a wide range of fine high-end acoustic instruments of highest quality and impressive acoustic sound. Roman is a member of the Guild of Prague Luthiers.

All guitars are made from special selected solid tonewoods and other top quality materials only and are purely handmade in any detail. Even today very rare handcut pearl inlays are standard in our workshop. We use tap-tuning for every our instrument as a standard too – every top is tuned by tapping on and subsequent corresponding adjustment. Every instrument is checked during the building process by Roman personally. Only when an instrument is build to his quality standard the label is signed by him.

ROZAWOOD is an art workshop where only skilled and trained luthiers put their best efforts into every unique ROZAWOOD instrument. We had the pleasure of meeting Roman for an interview and a shop tour. That was really cool! Click here for the interview.
