Gibson Byrdland Master Collection Jim Triggs with Venetian Cutaway (1991)

Just in! Rare 1991 Gibson Byrdland. Not only good for jazz and rock & roll but some other great stuff too...She was hand built by the extremely talented master luthier Jim Triggs who was also one of the founders of the Gibson Custom Shop. This pretty jazzer is magnificent for studio recording. Very nice and fat tones, check out the soundcloud demo. She is also in high excellent condition! Definately a rare find!

The history of the Byrdland is well known but for those of you hoe dont:  Gibson's finest craftsmanship since 1955! Many guitarists did not desire the bulk of a traditional archtop guitar such as Gibson's L-5. The Byrdland is know for its short scale 23.5" and and 22 frets to the body compared to most of the other big body's that do with 20 frets. With its overall depth of 2¼-in, she is thinner than the L-5's 3⅜" depth. In 1954 Gibson's president Ted McCarty sought opinions and ideas about new products. The suggestions from Tom Byrd and Hank Garland led to the development of the Byrdland. The Byrdland is essentially a custom built, thinner, L-5CES (Cutaway-Electric-Spanish) with a shorter scale neck. The short scale neck (23½") facilitates intricate single-note patterns and unusual stretched chord voicings. As said, these guitars can do a lot more than just Rock & Roll. From the Jazzy tones of Greg Koch to the hard rock licks from Ted Nugent. This is a winner!
