One of a kind 2016 Collings 01 Custom 12-string combines the timeless appearance and enduringly popular tone of the “0” body style with a 12-string configuration and the wonderful Doghair finish into this unique guitar. She offers an exceptional note separation with a quick attack and beautiful harmonic complexity.
The Collings 01 Custom 12-string smaller body dimension and short scale (632 mm / 24 7/8″) also adds a percussive quality to the note attack. Thus, she makes an exceptional finger style and recording guitar. Awesome tone and looks combined into an easy to handle and play guitar this 01 12-string lifts the classic design on to a whole new level. Especially the doghair finish gives this jewel a rich and artistic look. Like all Collings instruments this baby is finished in nitrocellulose lacquer. But before the nitro is applied the porous wood first receives a “grain fill” that levels the wood surface and allows for the latter, perfectly flat, mirror like finish appearance. The doghair effect is done by applying white grain fill against a black stain. Time-consuming but very pleasing to the eye.
