Roman Zajicek Bellissimo Full Brazilian Rozewood

On my first visit to Roman Zajicek's workshop near Prague I met this beauty. This is an all Brazilian guitar with a very, very special top. Roman calls this construction a 'double wood top'. An mastergrade Spruce top is overlaid by a very thin plate of solid wood of the same kind as back and sides. The Brazilian Rosewood is quarter sawn and then glued on the Spruce top and then sanded to 0,5 mm thickness. Then the two wood plates are glued together with high quality hide glue and with the same grains direction. So the wood is working the same way as solid wood. This results in a very unique sound. The guitar still sounds as a Spruce top guitar but with more sustain, more treble and a better bass response.  Furtermore the fretboard, brigde and headplate are also made of Brazilian Rosewood. Roman would be more then happy to build one for you. The current price for this extraordinary Bellisimo guitar should set you back just over 10 grand.

The guitar was sold to a collector and came back to me in 2016. So I decided not to let her go again. This is a truly extraordinary instrument.
